About This

• BOLD CRIMSON BLOOMS THAT STAND OUT IN ANY GARDEN — The Red Chief variety (Eschscholzia californica) produces vivid 2–3 in. cup-shaped flowers in deep, rich crimson — a rare alternative to the common orange poppy that commands instant attention in borders, meadows, and slopes. Each pack contains 22,000 heirloom seeds (29g) for generous, wide-coverage planting
• GERMINATES IN 7–14 DAYS WITH ZERO FUSS — Direct sow outdoors in early spring or fall directly onto well-drained, sandy, or rocky soil at just 1/4 in. depth. No indoor starts, no fertilizing, no special prep — these California poppy seeds germinate reliably at 55–65°F and actively prefer poor soil where other flowers struggle.
• DROUGHT TOLERANT AND LOW-MAINTENANCE BY DESIGN — Once rooted, water only when soil dries out completely. No deadheading required, no fertilizing ever, and no replanting year after year in Zones 8–10 where plants naturally reseed. Thrives across USDA Zones 2–10 in full sun with minimal intervention — ideal for xeriscaping and dry, low-water landscapes.
• FILLS BORDERS, SLOPES AND POLLINATOR GARDENS ALL SEASON — Blooms spring through early summer, attracting bees and native pollinators with open, accessible flowers. Deer resistant and self-seeding, these California poppy seeds are perfectly suited for wildflower meadows, erosion control on dry slopes, naturalized landscapes, and community pollinator gardens.
• HEIRLOOM, NON-GMO AND OPEN-POLLINATED — SAVE SEEDS FOREVER — Every seed is open-pollinated and non-GMO, so you can harvest and replant from your best plants season after season without repurchasing. True heirloom genetics mean consistent color, vigor, and bloom performance every year.
• A THOUGHTFUL GIFT FOR GARDENERS OF ANY LEVEL — These bulk California poppy seeds make a memorable Mother's Day gift, housewarming present, or first gardening kit for children. Simple to grow, rewarding to watch, and striking enough to impress — from beginner backyard patches to established naturalized landscapes.
• COMPLETE GROWING INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED — BACKED BY QUALITY GUARANTEE — Every pack ships with full planting guidance: direct sow at 1/4 in. depth, thin to 6–12 in. apart, germinate at 55–65°F, and allow seed heads to mature for natural reseeding. Backed by HOME GROWN's quality guarantee so you grow with confidence from day one.
